Prayer Vigil

Some churches or prayer groups organize a prayer vigil. It is a designated prayer time for a specific request. It is a list of members who will agree to continue prayer at a specific time and volunteer and sign up on a list of times. You may have a specific need stated for the prayer petitions and intercessions. Most vigils are for a specified time period, like 24 hours or a specified day. A sign up sheet that has around the clock times posted or it may have just daytime hours posted leaves a line beside a specific time you volunteer to pray for a specific time and you sign in at that time. The purpose of the vigil is to have a specific time of continued prayer by one intercessor at a time. That way you will have continued prayer for the length of time specified in the vigil. It is like a chain of intercessors taking turns in prayer to lift up a certain request to the throne room for hours at a time. It is a unified effort and allows continuous prayer for 24 hours, or for days at a time. I will provide an example of a prayer vigil sign up sheet so you can see how it works. Most organized vigils has shown to be successful.
